If a salary summary leaves a deduction unexplained, a form with explicit settings can make the assumption easier to spot.

Use a form that names the pension method

Money Worked Out and My Pay Calculator have the recorded pension-method choices. The Salary Calculator's chosen main form has an unconfirmed entry for that criterion. The pension cash-pay comparison shows why contribution treatment matters.

Set irregular income apart

Both external alternatives have bonus and overtime recorded on their main forms. Money Worked Out provides those controls in its annual salary estimate too. Its dedicated bonus tool isolates the extra annual cash, while the pay-rise tool compares old and new salaries.

Match the question to the time period

The main salary alternatives can help plan annual income. They do not rebuild earlier tax payments. Read which forms check one payday for a cumulative question and use the tax-code explanation when a code has changed.

How we checked

Each site's main calculator opened in Chrome and its HTML read on the check date. Features are true only when seen in the calculator, false when absent from the calculator, its menu and its sitemap, and unknown otherwise.

Test: £35,000 a year, England, no pension, no student loan, standard tax code, 2026/27. Small differences in the £35,000 test are expected. Money Worked Out uses the £12,579 of tax-free pay that the standard 1257L tax code gives on a payslip, as HMRC's own estimator does. A site that uses the £12,570 Personal Allowance instead shows £1.80 more Income Tax a year.

Checked on 3 October 2026.

Can I compare a bonus without changing ordinary salary?

Use a dedicated bonus form or the main form's bonus input. Match the annual assumptions before comparing outputs.

Do the replacements accept Scottish settings?

All three alternatives have Scottish coverage recorded for the selected main forms.

Which alternative removes adverts?

Money Worked Out's controlled source has no adverts. The two external main forms had adverts recorded.

Will a different form settle a tax-code dispute?

An estimate can reveal a question to ask. HMRC provides the code and payroll applies it.
