The figures you type into our calculators stay on your device. They are never sent to us or to anyone else.

Calculator figures

Each calculator runs in your web browser. Your salary and the other figures you enter are not sent over the internet, not stored and not added to the page address.

Cookies and tracking

The site does not set cookies and stores nothing on your device. It has no advertising, no social media buttons and no third-party tracking scripts. Because nothing is stored on your device, you will not see a cookie banner.

What we count

To see which pages and calculators are used, and whether pages load quickly, each page sends a short note to our own server. The note says which page it is, what happened (for example, the page opened or a result was shown), the website that linked to the page, and a few timing measurements such as how long the page took to appear. Cloudflare adds the country your request came from.

The note never contains the figures you type, and it carries no name, account, cookie or code that could link one visit to another. We store only daily totals, such as "120 people opened this page on Tuesday". Daily totals are kept for about 13 months and then combined into monthly totals. Browsers that report automated control, such as testing tools, send nothing.

If you use a feedback or report form

The feedback, error report and calculator request forms send the words you type, the page address and, for error reports, the tax year. They do not send the figures in the calculator. Please do not include your name, contact details or salary. We keep these messages so we can fix problems and decide what to build, and we delete the oldest once we hold a few thousand.

What our servers record

When your browser asks for a page, the request passes through Cloudflare, which protects the site and delivers it quickly, and then reaches our own server. Like almost all web servers, ours keeps a log of each request: the address of the page, the time, your IP address, the type of browser and the page you came from. We use these logs only to keep the site working and secure. We do not use them to build a profile of you or share them with anyone. If you email us

If you email us, we see your email address and anything you write. We use it only to reply and, for error reports, to fix the site. We do not add you to a mailing list.

Sticky Pig Studios publishes this site and is responsible for the data described here. To ask what we hold about you, or to ask us to delete it, email [email protected]. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
