For a payslip question, start with your current deduction. The student loan repayment calculator shows monthly and annual amounts with working for your undergraduate plan and any postgraduate loan.
Choose a repayment check or a projection
A projection estimates how the balance might change. It depends on balances, course dates, earnings growth and interest assumptions. Change those assumptions to see how much the result moves.
Select the right plan
Check which repayment plan you are on before entering income. Add a postgraduate loan if you repay one alongside your undergraduate loan.
All selected general salary forms include Plans 1, 2, 4 and 5. UK Salary Calculator makes postgraduate an exclusive choice on its chosen main form. The other selected forms support both together. UK Student Loan Repayment Calculator has combined loans and a projection, but its checked schedules were monthly only.
Compare the result with your payslip
Bonuses and overtime can change payroll repayments. Use the bonus tax calculator to examine a bonus and the take-home pay calculator to see loan deductions within your overall pay.
If pension salary sacrifice is part of your pay, compare scenarios with the salary sacrifice calculator. For tax on self-employment, use the self-employed tax calculator. An annual salary estimate can differ from a payslip when earnings vary between pay periods.
What the table establishes
The table is a bounded comparison of controls on selected free main forms and a current repayment spot check from 3 October 2026. Only Student Loan Calculator and Money Worked Out have recorded annual results for the shared Plan 2 plus postgraduate check. Other annual test rows remain Not run.
The checks do not certify projections or write-off dates. The methodology explains Money Worked Out's calculations and rounding. External controls were checked with consent notices unaccepted, so the journey was not a normal usability test.
Unknown ad or cookie status stays Not checked. Counts group loaded third-party scripts by service. The checked pre-consent load or journey can differ on later loads.
How we checked
Four criteria were fixed before checking: all undergraduate plans, postgraduate repayments alongside an undergraduate loan, monthly and annual amounts and a loan balance projection. Chosen free main forms were checked in an actual browser on 3 October 2026. The leading projection calculator was checked with Plan 2 then Plan 2 plus postgraduate repayments; selected inputs and changed outputs were read back. This verifies controls and displayed current repayments, not the accuracy of future projections or write-off dates. External controls were checked while consent notices remained unaccepted, so this is not a normal usability test. Script counts group successfully loaded external JavaScript by service in the checked pre-consent load or control journey, including libraries and excluding font, stylesheet and separate beacon requests. A later load can differ. Unknown advertising or cookie status stays Not checked.
Checked 3 October 2026: annual gross £35,000, Plan 2 plus a postgraduate loan and no voluntary overpayments. This row records the current annual repayment estimate, not a future projection. Displayed whole-pound rounding is allowed. Student Loan Calculator and Money Worked Out were run; other selected forms remain Not run. UK Student Loan Repayment Calculator was used but its checked table showed monthly amounts only, so no annual result is recorded.

Questions about repayment estimates
Does my loan balance set my repayment?
Repayments depend on income above each plan's threshold. The official repayment rules explain what you pay. Balance inputs affect a forecast of what remains.
Can I check both loan deductions together?
Yes, if the form supports undergraduate and postgraduate loans at once. Select both before comparing the combined repayment with your payslip.
Why might my payslip show a different amount?
A bonus or overtime can change that pay period's repayment. Check the earnings and loan selections before comparing one month's deduction with an annual estimate.
Can a projection tell me whether to overpay?
It depends on the assumptions you enter and any defaults you leave unchanged. Use it to compare scenarios. It offers no promise about future balances or recommendation to overpay.
