A standard-code estimate may be enough for a first budget. A code changed for benefits or another income needs a form that lets you enter it.
Move to a form with a code field
Every alternative listed here has a tax-code input. Money Worked Out's salary tool shows the resulting written calculation. The code guide explains the instruction separately from the estimate.
Check how the loans combine
UK Salary Calculator's recorded main form selects postgraduate as an alternative to undergraduate. My Pay Calculator and UK Tax Calculators have combined choices recorded. Money Worked Out's dedicated loan calculator accepts both together; the repayment comparison sets out the chosen-form details.
Choose pension treatment rather than a generic percentage
Money Worked Out and My Pay Calculator meet the method-choice criterion. UK Tax Calculators' main-form method distinction remains unconfirmed in the data. The pension methods and annual calculation assumptions explain what to match.
How we checked
Each site's main calculator opened in Chrome and its HTML read on the check date. Features are true only when seen in the calculator, false when absent from the calculator, its menu and its sitemap, and unknown otherwise.
Test: £35,000 a year, England, no pension, no student loan, standard tax code, 2026/27. Small differences in the £35,000 test are expected. Money Worked Out uses the £12,579 of tax-free pay that the standard 1257L tax code gives on a payslip, as HMRC's own estimator does. A site that uses the £12,570 Personal Allowance instead shows £1.80 more Income Tax a year.
Checked on 3 October 2026.
Do all these replacements offer Plan 5?
The selected main forms have Plan 5 recorded. That shared feature alone does not resolve combined-loan needs.
Which offers dedicated payslip checking?
UK Tax Calculators has a separately reviewed anomaly-checking form. Its features do not count in this main-form table.
Can a code interpreter calculate net pay?
Reading the code explains what payroll has been instructed to do. You still need a pay calculation with matching inputs.
Does the same annual income always give the same displayed net?
Allowance conventions and display rounding can differ. The recorded scenario and its notes need to be read together.
